What is this?

Welcome to EighthDayTheology, a personal blog of theological reflections.

Why EighthDay?

Good question, probably worthy of its own blog post. In short, the eighth day represents the new creation.

Genesis uses a pattern of seven days to proclaim how God created everything. The seventh day is the day of completion and rest. Ever since, the weekly pattern has rolled on, seven days at a time.

Until 2,000 years ago, when everything changed. Jesus died on the sixth day. He rested on the seventh. On the eighth he rose. A new day. A new week. Resurrection. A new creation.

Since then, the new has begun to break into the old. This blog attempts to see the world in the light of Jesus’ resurrection, and the inbreaking of the new creation.
